While in the final semester of my Screenwriting MA at Screen Academy Scotland, I worked on a short film called The Devil in Her Eyes, initially as a script editor, then as a credited writer.

Director Isabell Baughman pitched the story: the true tale of a cross-dressing Scottish witch pricker called Christian Caddell. Caddell disguised herself as a man, under the name ‘John Dickson’, and persecuted women the length and breadth of Moray and the Highlands for six shilling a-piece. Building upon an initial draft completed by fellow screenwriter (and recently published novelist) Laura Goodwin, I worked to develop tone, deepen characterisation, ensure some level of historical accuracy, finesse dialogue and story structure.

After a successful crowdfunding campaign, and a week-long shoot - including challenging location work in East Lothian - The Devil in Her Eyes finally premiered at the Dominion Cinema in Edinburgh, Scotland on October 27th 2023.
